Digital-to-Home television service provider, GOtv Nigeria, kicked off its end-of-year campaign with a carnival-style roadshow on Friday. The procession moved through key parts of Lagos, drawing excited crowds, some of whom made on-the-spot decoder purchases in preparation for the holiday season.Starting at the Ikeja BRT Park, the roadshow featured dancers, drummers, branded performers and the GOtv gorilla mascot as it travelled through Maryland, Ojuelegba, Tejuosho, Yaba, Oyingbo and CMS before ending around the Eko Hotel Roundabout. The activation marks the first major push in MultiChoice’s end-of-year rollout features like the AFCON, Football season and Festive lineup. For many Lagos residents, the activation provided entertainment and an opportunity to reconnect or upgrade ahead of December’s busy viewing period.A mechanic at the Ikeja stop, who purchased a new GOtv decoder, said the roadshow helped him make a long-awaited decision. “My old decoder got damaged some months ago, and I kept getting messages to renew,” he said. “But with AFCON coming, I decided to buy another one today. I want to enjoy all the matches. I do not want to miss any game.”At Ojuelegba, a trader said she was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. “The dancing gorilla made me laugh,” she said. “It scared me a bit at first, but it was fun to see. I bought a GOtv decoder because my children will be at home this December, and I want them to have something to watch.”Across several stops, residents spoke about the importance of staying connected during the festive season, which coincides with the busy part of the ongoing football season..Tope Oshunkeye, Head of Marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria, said Friday’s activation was designed to bring the campaign directly to communities. “We want customers to feel the excitement of the season right from the start,” he said. “This period brings football, family moments and entertainment together, and today’s roadshow is just the beginning of several activities as we move toward the festive peak and the AFCON tournament.”Friday’s roadshow is the first in a nationwide series scheduled to run through December, combining entertainment, community engagement and on-ground visibility as GOtv builds momentum toward one of the biggest viewing periods of the year.
