By Gabriel Sunday AfolayanIn a bid to encourage academic excellence and reward hard work among primary school pupils, the Moba Education Secretary, Mrs. Omowumi Kotila, has instituted awards of excellence for outstanding pupils in the council. Kotila, who is committed to promoting education and youths development in the area, will be presenting the awards to top-performing pupils in the recently conducted maiden edition of debate and quize competition from the six zones of the local government at a ceremony billed for July 24, 2025 at Olowonjorubu Hall, Moba LGA Secretariat, Otun-Ekiti, Ekiti State.The certificates of excellence will be presented to the pupils, who demonstrated utmost dedication, perseverance and commitment to top notch during the programme. Speaking earlier with newsmen in her office, Kotila stated that the awards programme was designed to motivate students to strive for excellence, provide a platform for them to showcase their talents and abilities and inspire a culture of hard work and dedication among the younger ones. "We want to encourage our young people to work hard, dream big and strive for excellence in all they do. By recognising and rewarding their achievements, we hope to inspire a culture of hard work and dedication among them and this will serve as a reminder that excellence is achievable with determination and effort, and that hard work and dedication can lead to outstanding achievements and recognition", she stressed. The awards, according to her, are parts of her broader initiative to promote education and youths development and provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills and talents and to encourage them to pursue their dreams and aspirations in a free environment.While expressing delight in personally sponsoring and financing the awards, the Education Secretary said the achievements of these young pupils is a signal to their future greatness, noting that the place of hard work and dedication as prerequisite for youths development can never be over stressed. She appreciated the state government for showing more commitment to the welfare of teachers and pupils in the state and also called on her counterparts in other LGEAs to key into this award initiative. Dignitaries expected at the event include the Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (EKSUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, the board's Project Commissioner, Hon. (Barr) Kayode Adeoye and Hon. Adeyemi Awoniyi, representing Moba constituency 2 and Chairman, House Committee on Education, Ekiti State House of Assembly.Others included ;the Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon. Gold Adebayo, Moba LGA Chairman, Hon. Bamidele Fadugba, Chairman of Ero LCDA, Hon. (Mrs) Felicia Ibiloye, pupils and teachers, parents and other stakeholders. .
