All is now set for the 44th Inaugural Lecture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, which will be presented by a professor of Counselling Psychology, Jude Akomolafe, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The lecture is titled, "Did You Complete What You Started? The Tripartite Roles of Commitment, Predictors and Therapeutic Interventions.". In a statement by the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will chair the event. The lecture will take place in the University Multipurpose Hall, commencing at 2:00 pm, with guests urged to be seated by 1:30 pm. Prof. Akomolafe’s academic journey includes earning a Bachelor of Education degree in Guidance and Counselling in 1997 Education from the former Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, now Ekiti State University; a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling in 2004 from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko. In 2009, he bagged a Ph.D in Counselling Psychology from University of Ibadan, Oyo State. Joining the services of AAUA in 1998 as a Graduate Assistant in the Department Guidance and Counselling, Faculty of Education, Prof. Akomolafe soared through the ranks, to achieve the revered position of a professor in 2019. Prof. Akomolafe has served the University at one time or another in over 70 capacities, including Head of Department of Guidance and Counselling, Acting Director, Institute of Education, Associate Director, Institute of Education, Chairman, Teaching Practice Committee, and Chairman of Business Committee of Senate. . His academic career is proven by contributing to two books, and publishing of over 50 articles in learned journals. Prof. Akomolafe, who has supervised and mentored over 1,000 undergraduates and postgraduate students, including 22 master and six Ph.D candidates, is also an external examiner to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Ekiti State University, University of Ibadan, University of the Free State, South Africa, and a facilitator and project supervisor at the National Open University.He has attended and presented papers at over 40 local and international conferences, including in Kenya, South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Italy, and Canada. He is a member of a number of professional bodies, such as Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria, International Society for Policy Research and Evaluation, School-Based Counselling, Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria, Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Africa, and Association of Teachers in Tertiary Institutions of Nigeria.
