The management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club(3SC) of Ibadan, has dissociated itself from the recent castigation on the personality of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Davidson Owumi. Reacting to a write up, condemning and calling for the resignation of Owumi, as the COO of the league body, Shooting Stars, in an official statement, distanced itself from the write up, describing it as an opinion of an individual. "Our attention has been drawn to an article circulated recently on the social media, indicting the Chief Operating Officer (COO), aftermath the stepping down of referee Bashiru Sadu, who handled our Matchday 36 clash against Rangers International of Enugu in Ibadan last Wednesday. "We wish to through this medium, dissociate ourselves from the article, which to us, was just an opinion of an individual. Read Also:Galatasaray Step Up Ndidi Chase "As a club, we want to state unequivocally, that we are not in anyway, laying blames on anybody, as far as any decision taken by the NPFL board is concerned, particularly on the issues of referees and officiating, this is prerogative of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA). "We are quite aware of the the fact that Rangers International struggled in the league last season and the club also had it rough at some points this season, even with Owumi as the COO of the NPFL. "Shooting Stars are bold to state, that the Nigerian league has witnessed tremendous progress under the current leadership of the NPFL, of which Owumi, who to us, remains an upright and dedicated administrator is part. "As a club, our focus is facing our own primary duty, which is to play the game according to the rules as we are happy being part of the process of taking the NPFL to a greater height. "Finally, we as a club, wish to pledge our continued support to the NPFL board, in the overall interest of the league."
