FUOYE Cooperative gets First Female President

By Bamidele Eleniola, Ekiti The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society has elected Mrs. Adeyemo Funmilayo Kemisola as its first female president.The election, held at the Oye and Ikole campuses of the ivory tower on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, recorded an impressive turnout as members actively participated in choosing new leaders for the cooperative society.According to the official results released by the Chairman , Electoral Committee, Mr. Oluranti T. Adewumi, Mrs. Adeyemo polled 305 votes to defeat her opponent, Mr. Adebisi Ekundayo Olomilua, who scored 190 votes.Other elected officers included; Vice President: Kazeem Sule Babatunde – 206 votes, General Secretary: Egunjobi Boluwatife John – 302 votes, Assistant General Secretary: Abe Oluwatosin – 303 votes, Treasurer: Olubo Muyiwa Victor – 392 votes, Financial Secretary: Atoyebi Bolade Idowu – 589 votes, Public Relations Officer (PRO): Duyilemi T. Emmanuel – 206 votesSpeaking with Newsline NG, the chairman electoral committee is Mr Temitope  Adewumi (Humble) commended members of the cooperative for their orderly conduct during the polls, describing the exercise as “free, fair, and transparent.”"This election has not been an easy one. I appreciate the electoral committee for their cooperation, The Executives, The security officers and the University Management  for standing by us. The election was free, fair, and credible just as we promised our members,” he added."We have set a pace that others should follow, and we will submit our recommendations to the Executive so that they can implement subsequently"He advised the elected officers to do well adding that anyone that does well will be definitely commended and rewarded with massive votes of the people In her remarks, the president-elect, Mrs. Adeyemo, expressed profound gratitude to God and the members for their confidence in her leadership. “I feel so excited, but the most important thing is that God  takes all the glory. Those who put their faith in God should not be let down. I am so glad that God fulfills His promises,” she said.“There was a lot of political propaganda during the process, but God took control. I am grateful to Him. I returned all glory to the Almighty God who never fails in his promises Mrs. Adeyemo also commended the Electoral Committee for conducting a credible election, assuring members that her administration would focus on transparency and development."We should expect progress, innovation, creativity, expansion, and growth.” Adeyemo added In his appreciation message, the outgoing President, Mr. Adebayo Kehinde (CNA), expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their contributions to the successful conduct of the election.He commended the Electoral Committee for its professionalism, the Security Agencies for maintaining order, and the University Management for its support. He also thanked members for their large turnout and his fellow executives for ensuring a smooth transition.Mr. Adebayo emphasized that in every democratic process, there are no absolute winners or losers. “The real victory belongs to the cooperators who have collectively exercised their right to choose their leaders,” He addedHe urged members to continue upholding the values of unity, sportsmanship, and respect as the new leadership takes over, expressing optimism that the outcome of the election would bring greater progress to the society and the university community.
