The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the good people of Ondo State before, during and after the Yuletide season.Building on this commitment, the Commissioner made the remarks during his weekly lecture and address to officers and men of the Command, where he expressed growing concern over the rise in false alarms and staged kidnapping incidents aimed at extorting money. He warned that such acts undermine genuine security efforts and stressed that the Command will decisively clamp down on those involved. To reinforce the Command’s preparedness, CP Lawal expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness and alertness of officers statewide. He directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to take firm control of their respective jurisdictions to ensure a smooth and secure festive period. To further strengthen security measures, he ordered intensive and aggressive patrols, intelligence-led raids of identified black spots, and the strategic deployment of covert operatives to enhance intelligence gathering and early threat detection. In alignment with the ongoing security assessment and national considerations, the Commissioner announced a ban on the sale and use of fireworks throughout the festive season. He explained that fireworks can cause unnecessary panic and may be exploited by criminals to mask their activities, making strict enforcement necessary during this period.Appreciating the continuous support of the Inspector-General of Police, CP Lawal reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to working closely with other security agencies to preserve the security gains already achieved in the state. He further directed all DPOs to ensure proper deployment of personnel, removal of road obstructions, and smooth flow of human and vehicular traffic as part of the festive security arrangements. As part of his message to the public, CP Lawal advised motorists and road users to exercise restraint, remain vigilant, and avoid excessive speeding to prevent avoidable accidents. He assured residents and travellers of their safety across highways, hinterlands, and waterways throughout the season, describing security as a collective responsibility. The Ondo State Police Command remains resolute and will not allow any individual or group to jeopardize the peace and security currently enjoyed in Ondo State. For any inquiries, please contact:0906 058 8958X: @OndoPoliceNgInstagram: OndopolicecommandFacebook: Ondo Police CommandEmail: Ondopolice@gmail.comE-SignedDSP AYANLADE OLAYINKA OLUSHOLAPolice Public Relations Officer (PPRO)Ondo State Police CommandFor: Commissioner of Police, Ondo State3rd December, 2025.
