Roblox Will Block “Sensitive Topics” Content From Players Under 13
With nearly 112 million daily active users, Roblox is one of the most popular video game platforms on this mortal planet. But it also gives parents a headache when it comes to content that is not suitable for children to access. The best example is I was surprised that a game like Squid Game can be easily accessed by children.This week Roblox proposed introducing a special label for content with “sensitive topics” that would prevent it from being accessed by players under 13. If the game wants to play, players will have to ask their parents for permission first.The community reacted negatively to this proposal because what is categorized as a sensitive topic is not well defined. Roblox simply said that it is an issue that provokes a strong emotional response and allows different opinions without middle ground.Some see it as an attempt to censor content that is now a big issue in the UK. There are also a few who see it as a political issue because of the virtual rally in support of Palestine held on Roblox two years ago. Roblox users’ feedback will be collected starting August 11 before a final decision is made.
