The Matter 1.4.2 standard was announced today, bringing improvements to the security level and making it easier to add devices to the connected device (IoT) system at home. The first is support for WiFi Unsynchronized Service Discovery (USD) which allows devices to be added using WiFi instead of just Bluetooth LE. For manufacturers, the number of components can be reduced because they only need to support WiFi from now on.For security, the Vendor ID (VID) Verification system is supported with IoT network administrators being able to verify that the device being added is truly from the vendor. Malicious attacks using hardware that performs the spoofing process can be avoided.Meanwhile, support for Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) will warn users about hardware that is no longer secure through a local list that is automatically updated.Standardization of vacuum robot controls has also been introduced. From now on, all robots that support Matter share the same control system regardless of manufacturer to avoid conflicts with previous control system standards. There are several other features introduced and to see the complete list head to the link below. The Matter standard for IoT supports various ecosystems such as Google, Amazon, Samsung and Apple.
