BYD yesterday announced support for digital keys on several Samsung Galaxy smartwatch models. After the update, the Samsung Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra can be used to unlock several BYD cars. This is through the NFC key feature that was previously supported on several Samsung Galaxy smartphone models. In addition to being used by vehicle owners themselves, this feature allows cars to be loaned out for use without a physical key.BYD became the first Chinese automotive company to support the digital key system on the Galaxy Watch series. In addition to the Samsung ecosystem, BYD cars have also supported digital keys on Oppo, iOS and HarmonyOS devices. The announcement was made only for Galaxy Watch and BYD users in China so far. When global support will be provided has not yet been announced.
