NVIDIA H20 Chip Production Reportedly Halted
NVIDIA has reportedly halted production of its NVIDIA H20 artificial intelligence (AI) chip, according to a Reuters report. The supply chain was ordered to halt production after the Chinese government blocked the chip from being used due to the risk of it being used for espionage purposes.The NVIDIA H20 chip is only marketed to China in compliance with US government orders that prevent the sale of its most powerful AI chips to the country. NVIDIA has been accused of placing backdoors, kill switches and spyware on the chip, an accusation NVIDIA has quickly denied.At the same time, NVIDIA has begun showing samples of its B30A chip to customers in China, which is more powerful than the H20 because it is based on the Blackwell architecture. It is believed to have up to 80% of the power of the B300 chip. The sale of this chip has not yet been approved by the Trump administration, but NVIDIA is believed to be confident that it can be obtained because it has agreed to give 15% of sales revenue to the US government.
