KLIA Aerotrain Service to Resume Operations on July 1

The Aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 will resume operations on July 1. This was announced today by Transport Minister Anthony Loke after the Aerotrain upgrade project entered its final phase and underwent a series of safety tests including the Emergency Response Test (ERP).The Aerotrain has been out of service since March 2023 due to various breakdown issues as it was too old. It began operations in 1998 by connecting the main terminal with satellite terminal A.In its 25-year history of operation, there have been several breakdown incidents that have caused operations to be temporarily halted. Since the operation was halted to go to satellite terminal A, ordinary passengers have to take buses while luxury vehicle services are offered for business class passengers.Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad announced last year that the Aerotrain would be replaced on January 31. This project involves MAHB, Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd, Alstom Transport Systems Sdn Bhd and a joint venture of IJM Construction Sdn Bhd with Pestech Technology Sdn Bhd.
