Honor 200 Pro Review – Studio Style Portrait

Honor started as a subsidiary of Huawei but has now managed to prove that it can stand on its own after separating since 2020. The positive growth also shows that Honor's product marketing performance is going well and can compete in the existing market. Honor has recently introduced new devices under their number series in several variations. One of them is the Honor 200 Pro which has also been offered in Malaysia. Like the generation before, the concept of modern but minimalist design remains Honor's choice because in addition to wanting to appear simple, this kind of concept is suitable for styling by all users. Continue reading this article to see all the offers available on this device.Device SpecificationsHonor 200 Pro6.78″ OLED screen, 1224 x 2700,120Hz, 4000 nits,HDRSnapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor (4nm)1x 3.0 GHz Cortex-X4 chip4x 2.8 GHz Cortex-A7203x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A520Adreno 735 Graphics ChipRAM 12 GB LPDDR5X12 GB VirtualInternal Storage 512 GB UFS 4.0Primary Camera 50MP, f/1.9, OIS (Wide Angle)8MP, f/2.2 (Ultra Wide Angle)50MP, f/2.4 (Telephoto)Selfie Camera 50 MP, f/2.12MP, f/2.45200 mAh batteryWired 100WWireless 66WSIM/Telephony Dual SIM nano / 5GNFC AvailableNo Audio JackWaterproof IP65Fingerprint Scan SystemFace ScanSale Price RM2,699 (12/512GB)Screen And DesignThe body is still curved at the front and back which is paired with an aluminum frame. It is also light with a weight of 187g and a thickness of 7.7mm which makes it feel quite comfortable in the grip. At the same time it is believed that it can be used with one hand without giving any burden. Scientifically known as Quad-Floating which basically means that the phone screen is of course curved on all four sides in order to give a good effect. Whether one likes such a display or not depends on personal preference. But honestly I say there are no negative complaints about it even though I am not a loyal fan of this kind of display. The panel is also still a 1.5K OLED that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It can also be adjusted so as not to quickly run out of battery. The bezel which is seen to be equally thick on all four sides makes the front face of the device quite symmetrical. Then there are no complaints for the 6.78″ screen to be used because the experience feels quite satisfactory.I use the Honor 200 Pro for most of my day-to-day activities which include watching videos on Netflix and admit to being impressed with its capabilities. The screen can offer good and bright colors with all objects clearly visible. At the same time it is bright enough to be used in various locations including outdoors with direct sunlight.Next, Honor uses a plastic back panel that also has an oval-shaped main camera bump. The finishing detail is truly elegant with wavy and shiny patterns. I received the Honor 200 Pro which clearly offers a green color inspired by the ocean.A total of three sensors are provided which include wide, ultra-wide and telephoto. The situation gets more interesting when Honor is seen trying to change the 'game' in mobile photography in collaboration with Harcourt Studio which is also offered exclusively on this new device. There is an in-screen fingerprint scanner which works quite well taking around two seconds to unlock the device. A scan function is also provided for the process of unlocking the device faster without having to touch the device screen. Around the device is the power button and audio adjustment on the right side. Followed by a red emitter at the top while a USB-C port and a speaker at the bottom of the device.Other features that can be found are Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, NFC and an IP65 waterproof rating. Loud stereo audio can be enjoyed through this pair of speakers. Bass thumps hard with good audio separation. The lack of a 3.5mm audio jack is also included, making users have to rely entirely on wireless earphones.Benchmark – Snapdragon 8s Gen 3Honor 200 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip with a 4nm build. It can compete closely with Realme GT6 and Poco F6 which are also powered by the same chip to be the brain of the device. Honor also generously provides a memory combination of 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage which is considered more than enough for current users. In addition to being able to expand up to 7GB of RAM virtually through the RAM Turbo function. The only drawback is that it still doesn't have the ability to change itself as offered on some other Android devices.Overall the device works well with no critical issues throughout this review. Scrolling also feels smooth especially when the 120Hz screen is activated but necessarily compromises with battery life. A variety of modern games can also be played well at the highest settings. The level of heating experienced is also just warm in the hand. A comparison of benchmarks was also carried out with the collection of scores as follows:Antutu 3DHonor 200 Pro – 1,537,608Realme GT 6 – 1,490,495Poco F6 – 1,331,937Geekbench 6Honor 200 Pro – 1322/4222Realme GT 6 – 1860/4614Poco F6 – 1685/47763DMark Wildlife ExtremeHonor 200 Pro – 3,051Realme GT 6 – 3083Poco F6 – 3094Software – MagicOS 8.0 Based on Android 14The latest MagicOS 8.0 launcher based on Android 14 is used on the device. It is built with various AI features that should be able to increase user satisfaction while using the device. It consists of a Magic Portal that allows users to change and access services between applications with just drag and drop.An example is the process of copying and pasting articles on the Notes application. There are also Magic Capsules for basic notifications such as stopwatch and video playback. Next is that Magic Ring is able to offer a seamless experience across different devices including tablets and laptops. However, bloatware is still the only major problem with the various additional applications that are ready to be downloaded during the initial setup of the device. It also takes some time for setting up the device in the initial stage. Then there are no lengthy updates like what Honor offers on their Magic line of devices.Camera & Picture QualityThe strength of the device lies in the versatile camera system through collaboration with Harcourt Studio which is a famous photo studio in Paris. This situation is in contrast to most manufacturers who work with lens makers in an effort to offer better quality footage on smartphones. The main camera combines a 50MP wide lens, a 50MP telephoto and a 12MP wide-angle lens with OIS. This is coupled with the ability to record maximum 4K/30FPS video that also supports a 21:9 ratio screen mode.Another advantage can also be found when recording photos with a 16:9 ratio can also be done at the same time as an interesting improvement compared to existing devices. Most of the camera modes such as Night, Aperature, Portrait, Photo, Video and Pro are easily accessible through the camera interface. On the front, a 50MP + 2MP pill-shaped depth camera is placed in the middle.Pictures taken from the main lens give satisfactory results. It's quite bright and lively with color reproduction that tends to be more saturated than the real world. At the same time the camera is also able to do a good job of balancing extreme contrast in bright light sources. There are also several color profiles such as Natural, Vibrant and Authentic included in order to refine the color and get a more lively and realistic image. It pays special attention to the skin tone and the main key elements of the image to make sure it looks attractive. For example Authentic and Vibrant which can increase the contrast of the image with an interesting vintage effect. Then Natural can be seen to adjust the color, contrast, shade and brightness to make the picture look natural.Telephoto capabilities are also good with vivid detail and vibrant colors. It works well for zoom shots with no noticeable quality degradation and even photos at 10X are still usable. Likewise, the color reproduction of ultra-wide images is acceptable but not particularly impressive in terms of image sharpness. At the same time the problem of extreme exposure also often occurs. Macro images are simple with a lack of detail.Night pictures with the help of a special mode make the colors brighter. Finally the quality of portrait photos with the Harcourt filter offers good quality with the ability to retain details on the subject. The color is bright enough and the effect is good. It's nice to say it's beautiful and suitable for sharing on social media directly without additional editing.Battery EnduranceHonor uses a 5,200mAh battery on the device. It can also be charged quickly through a 100W wired and 66W wireless charging system which adds value to the device. A charger is included with every purchase along with a USB-A to USB-C cable. In general, the device can only last the whole day without any problems depending on the individual usage. But sharing in more detail the device can be used on average for more than 10 hours with regular use. What's in the Box?Here are the components included with each purchase.1x Honor 200 Pro1x Plastic protective frame1x USB-A to USB-C Cable.1x 100W Charger.1x Guidebook and safety.1x SIM PinConclusionShould buy Honor 200 Pro? The offer on the Honor 200 Pro becomes attractive if it suits each individual's personal needs. It is ideal if you want a device with quite premium internal hardware but don't want to spend more for a flagship device. It is also capable of offering an impressive display, performance and camera system in most situations. It can be seen clearly through the performance of the camera which is quite good although it is not perfect in some aspects such as ultra wide and macro. The combination with Harcourt Studio however managed to make a skilled device different from the others.AdvantageA satisfying 1.5K 120Hz OLED display.Powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.IP65 waterproof. The camera system is impressive.Fast fingerprint scanner system.Built-in GMS support.DeficienciesCurvy bodies are not the choice of the majority.Fat application problem. No 3.5mm audio jackMedium update period.
