Thousands of faulty power banks still sitting in Aussie homes could burst into flames, prompting an urgent nationwide recall.

The safety watchdog has ordered the recall of a range of power bank models over fears they could overheat and set alight.

There are still 'widespread' electricity outages in parts of Tasman, though it's unclear how many homes are disconnected.
