'Terrible shot': Trump shooter was rejected from high school rifle team

A former classmate of the suspected shooter of former President Donald Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks, told ABC News Monday that he was rejected from his high school's rifle team because he was a terrible marksman.Jameson Myers, who said he attended elementary and high school with Crooks, said Crooks tried to join the high school's rifle team but was rejected and asked not to return after a "preseason session."“He didn't just not make the team, he was asked not to come back because how bad of a shot he was, it was considered like, dangerous,” Myers said.Myers also said the suspected shooter came across as "lonely" and "socially reserved," who "didn't have a ton of friends."“I was friends with him — he never acted, like, by any means a political revolutionary,” Myers remarked, saying he was a fan of "Star Wars." He “was a very nice, even sweet guy from what I knew," he added.Trump, the former president, was struck in the right ear by a bullet fragment at a rally in Pennsylvania, his face covered in blood as he was rushed from the stage. In the aftermath, leaders from across the political spectrum condemned the senseless act of violence. President Joe Biden offered his condolences to an attendee who died, describing him as a "father" who "was protecting his family from the bullets being fired when he lost his life."
