The findings come from a team led by Peruvian archaeologist Ruth Shady, 78, who has spent decades studying the ancient city of Caral. Researchers say a devastating drought struck the region about 4,200 years ago. The water shortage forced the people of Caral to abandon their city. Instead of fighting over dwindling resources, the population made a collective decision to move and rebuild elsewhere....
