Poland has expressed solidarity with the United Kingdom, which recently imposed sanctions on three units of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (GRU) and its officers in response to Russian cyber operations. This was stated in a declaration by Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by Ukrinform. The Polish MFA emphasized that the scale and intensity of Russian cyberattacks across Europe have been growing, particularly since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. "Poland strongly condemns malicious activity in cyberspace that violates international norms of responsible state behavior in cyberspace, as defined by the United Nations and supported by all member states," the ministry stated. Warsaw believes that such actions—which go beyond cyberspace—pose a serious threat not only to national but also to European security. "We are dealing, among other things, with active sabotage operations, threats to critical infrastructure, GPS jamming, deliberate violations of our airspace, disinformation campaigns, and artificially induced migration flows," the MFA noted, adding that Poland is actively enhancing its digital resilience. As previously reported by Ukrinform, on July 18, the UK government introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation for conducting a long-standing campaign of malicious cyber activities. In addition, the UK government announced a decision to lower the price cap on Russian oil—a move coordinated with the European Union as part of its 18th sanctions package against Moscow.
