Ukraine’s Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and German Bundestag President Julia Klöckner agreed that a lasting peace in Ukraine can only be achieved through joint pressure on Russia. “Ukraine will not agree to ‘exchanges’ or concessions to the aggressor, and will not trade its land or sovereignty,” Stefanchuk stressed. He emphasized that stopping the killings and achieving a ceasefire is Russia’s unconditional responsibility, after which real political steps — aligned with Ukrainian and European positions — can be taken. Both sides agreed that Europe must be directly involved in the peace process, as its security is inseparably linked to Ukraine’s. They reaffirmed that peace should be lasting and just, achievable only through strength and sustained pressure on Russia — including maintaining and strengthening sanctions, continuing military and financial aid, and supporting Ukraine’s accelerated EU integration. Klöckner underlined that a ceasefire is a prerequisite for peace in Ukraine, adding that Germany firmly supports efforts to end Russia’s war of aggression. She noted that parliamentary cooperation between the Bundestag and Verkhovna Rada has intensified since the war began, aiming to strengthen Ukraine’s parliamentary capacity, ensure accountability, uphold democratic norms, and prepare for post-war elections. “The security of Ukraine is an inseparable part of Europe’s security,” Stefanchuk said, thanking Klöckner and the Bundestag for their active support.
