Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held a phone call with his Bulgarian counterpart Georg Georgiev to discuss the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine, bilateral cooperation, and coordination within international organizations. Sybiha said he briefed Georgiev on Russia’s recent strikes and stressed that President Putin not only rejects peace but grows more aggressive when he faces no adequate response to his terror. “New pressure on Moscow is critical, including a strong next EU sanctions package, tough restrictions on energy, and targeted personal sanctions,” Sybiha emphasized. The ministers also addressed bilateral priorities and cooperation within multilateral organizations, including the Council of Europe. Sybiha underlined the need to quickly open EU negotiation clusters and advance Ukraine’s accession process. The Ukrainian FM thanked Bulgaria for its consistent support, noting: “We are working together to defend common values, strengthen the Black Sea region, and secure Europe as a whole.” The conversation took place as Russia continues its deadly attacks on civilians, including a recent airstrike on the village of Yarova in Donetsk region, which killed more than 20 people.
