Zelenskyy and Kellogg Discuss Ways to Influence Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the US President’s Special Representative, Keith Kellogg. This was reported on his social media accounts. Zelenskyy met with Kellogg on Monday, August 25. After the meeting, he emphasized the importance of implementing all the outcomes achieved during the discussions together with European leaders in Washington. "Undoubtedly, it was a successful summit, a demonstration of true unity between Europe and America. Ukraine, as always, brings the world together. We appreciate the US’s willingness to be part of the security architecture for Ukraine, and our teams are actively working on developing it. We expect that key security foundations will be defined in the near future," he said. They discussed ways to influence the Russians in order to “push them toward real negotiations and the end of the war.” "Sanctions, tariffs — everything must remain on the agenda. We are ready to speak at the leaders’ level. This is the format needed to resolve key issues. Now, the same readiness is needed in Moscow," Zelenskyy emphasized. The Ukrainian president also noted that military cooperation between Ukraine and the US is important, and there are two strong opportunities — a weapons purchase agreement and a drone agreement, which could significantly strengthen Ukraine’s arsenals. "We are maintaining momentum in the PURL framework. This is an important tool for procuring American equipment with partner funding, and we are actively working on involving additional countries," he concluded. It is worth noting that on the same day, Kellogg stated that diplomatic work on security guarantees for Ukraine is ongoing and very complex. President Zelenskyy also announced that Ukrainian and American teams will meet at the end of this week to discuss the possibility of future negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
