The Ukrainian Peace Summit hosted by Switzerland will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Burgenstock resort on Lake Lucerne. More than 90 countries have confirmed their participation. Among the organisers are the Council of Europe, the European Commission, represented by President Ursula von der Leyen, the European Council, the European Parliament and others. Kyiv has invited about 160 countries and organisations to the summit. Ukraine's biggest ally, the United States, will send Vice President Kamala Harris and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. The Swiss government says the summit aims to "inspire a future peace process" that could eventually engage Russia and build a "just and lasting peace" for Ukraine based on international law. Switzerland announced the final list of participants in the Global Peace Summit. More than half of the participants will be represented at the highest level. According to the list published by the Swiss Federal Council, 92 countries will participate in the Global Peace Summit. Of these, 57 are represented at the highest level - by presidents or prime ministers. Another 29 countries will be represented at the ministerial level by foreign ministers. Another 6 countries will send ambassadors: Indonesia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, the Philippines, and Brazil. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy initiated the summit to attract international support for his peace plan. The 10 points of Zelenskyy's "peace formula" include the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity, including Crimea and the Russian-occupied territories in eastern and southern Ukraine. Russia was not invited to the summit. The Swiss government says there was no invitation because Russia had no intention of attending. China will also not attend the summit. In late May, China's Foreign Ministry said that Beijing was "unlikely to be able to attend the meeting" because a peace summit without Russia would not meet China's expectations. Earlier, Zelenskyy said that all international leaders who want Russia's military aggression against Ukraine to end in a truly just peace have the opportunity to join the first peace summit to be held in Switzerland in June.
