Angostura launches limited-edition rum in Europe

Angostura has launched a limited-edition rum in Europe. A media release from Angostura sent on July 15 said the rum, Angostura Tribute Distiller’s Cut, is being launched in Lithuania, Poland, Spain and Germany. It will also be launched in France later this year. Angostura said the Tribute Distiller’s Cut was launched in honour of the company’s master distiller, John Georges. Georges spent 40 years at Angostura, using his knowledge and skill to craft rare blends of rum. “The blends from the Tribute Distiller’s Cut are from some of the most prestigious rums from aged reserves, including a 25-year-old, which is one of the oldest in Angostura’s inventory,” the release said. “Georges would have originally cut this rum as a heavy new make spirit, leading to smokiness, deep vanilla notes and dried fruits. The length of time in the barrel gives the rum an edge, so it bites as it goes down.” Angostura said the rum will be available in select premium retail outlets. In commemoration of the launch, Angostura is hosting a series of exclusive events across Europe, which will include tastings, masterclasses and interactive sessions with Georges. In addition to the Tribute Distiller’s Cut, Angostura is further promoting other limited-edition and premium rum brands such as Angostura Zenith, Angostura 1919, Angostura 1824, Angostura 1787 and Angostura seven-year-old. “These events are designed to offer a first-hand experience of the new rum and celebrate the rich culture of our rum-making." The rums are being promoted through bartenders, high-end restaurants, hotels and customers who are seeking a unique rum experience.
