Maftown Heights Festival set to return following the success of the 4-part Untold Stories documentary

Maftown Heights is one of the most popular and loved hip-hop festivals which saw the biggest names in the industry come together in celebration of the legacy of Motswako music and the hip-hop culture. The festival was founded by Khuli Chana and Refiloe Ramogase.Recently, a 4-part documentary screened on Channel O, detailing the history and impact of the festival, the role it played in elevating Motswako music and its artists.Maftown Heights Untold Stories, which premiered last month with the final episode airing this past Saturday, captivated the audience as they were reminded of the good old days of the South African hip-hop culture.Following the overwhelming success of the documentary screening, the renowned Maftown Heights Festival has announced its return with a special “Reunion” edition this November.The “Reunion” edition promises to be a spectacular celebration, featuring an incredible line-up of Motswako legends and rising stars.Motswako lovers can look forward to unforgettable performances, electrifying collaborations, and special tributes that honour the festival's history and its contribution to South African music and culture."We are overjoyed by the response to Maftown Heights Untold Stories and are excited to bring back the Maftown Heights festival for a ‘Reunion’ edition. “We aim to create an experience that not only celebrates our past but also looks forward to the future of Motswako and its continued influence on the music industry," says the festival founders, Khuli Chana and Refiloe Ramogase.A build up to the festival will also include various interactive elements such as panel discussions and workshops that delve deeper into the culture and impact of Motswako.The highly anticipated event will take place in Johannesburg this November, bringing together fans and artists to celebrate the rich legacy of Motswako music and hip-hop culture.IOL
