The sequel to Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree, takes forward the story set in the first instalment. Taking place after the events of the first part, this film sees Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky facing yet another demonic threat, ‘Sarkata’, a headless monster who kidnaps women, similar to Stree who kidnapped men. Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky is seen supporting Shraddha Kapoor’s mysterious character, alongside Bittu, Jaana and Rudra, played by Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi respectively. The film perfectly blends the genres of horror and comedy, making it an entertaining watch. The storyline, dialogues, music, VFX, and the phenomenal acting skills together enhance the experience of the viewers. Rajkummar Rao, as always acts wonderfully, and has good comic timing, but it’s Pankaj Tripathi’s jokes that land and his Hindi and Urdu that captivates our attention. Abhishek Banerjee wonderfully shows emotions through dialogues, facial expressions and body language. Aparshakti Khurrana was great in the first half, but had less screen presence in the second half. Shraddha Kapoor also gets limited screen time, but as soon as she is on screen, no one can take their eyes away from her. Amar Kaushik does a great job in portraying the horror-comedy genre, with a good storyline and great jokes, which makes the audience laugh throughout. There is significant contribution from the VFX department, making the Sarkata and the other fantastical elements look more realistic. This paired with the background music enhances the horror elements of the film, which makes you somewhat scared. The best part has to be the surprising but entertaining special appearances which engaged the audiences, adding the much-needed masala to the film, while also hinting at probable future storylines. Talking about the climax, it felt a little underwhelming, and the plotline became predictable as it was reaching the climax. Even the final battle that was supposed to be huge, felt like just another fight between two forces. All in all, it is great film, with good humor and punchlines, paired with an intriguing plotline and phenomenal cast. The film is also crucial to understand the Stree-Bhediya-Munjya universe. So, this long weekend, take your friends and family to enjoy this fantastic horror comedy. Rating- 4/5
