Study finds new source of cardiac inflammation

Scientists at UC San Diego have found a new mechanism explaining cardiac inflammation after a heart attack, revealing that heart muscle cells initiate this process in the borderzone surrounding the affected area. This discovery opens potential therapeutic avenues to prevent the progression from heart attack to heart failure.
