Actor Byeon Woo Seok’s security team has come under fire for what many are calling "over-the-top" behavior at Incheon International Airport. The controversy erupted after an online video showed a security guard using a flashlight to prevent civilians from filming Byeon, sparking widespread criticism. The video quickly went viral, prompting the security team to admit their actions and apologize. Varo Entertainment, Byeon's agency, issued an official apology regarding the July 12 incident. The statement read: “This is Varo Entertainment. We sincerely apologize for the damage caused to the passengers at Incheon International Airport on July 12 as our artist was making his departure. After becoming aware of the security guard’s use of the flashlight on passengers, we requested that he stop his actions. Although we could not recognize the detailed situation at the gate with security, we feel moral responsibility for the unpleasant incidents during the security process and bow our heads in apology for causing inconvenience to the passengers. In the future, we will be more cautious and check in more detail to avoid situations that may cause inconvenience to other passengers. We apologize once again for causing concern.” However, the apology only added fuel to the fire, receiving even more criticism from Korean netizens. Comments included: “The agency doesn’t know how to get work done…” “What’s with the level of this apology letter…” “I don’t understand…I don’t know when they recognized and blocked the situation and where they felt the moral responsibility…If I were one of the passengers at the scene, I wouldn’t know if this was an apology or a way to escape the situation.” “Seeing how they are writing the apology letter, it will be difficult for them to get bigger.” “Are they talking about someone else? Take the legal responsibility.” “They are putting this on someone else.” “Right, because it was all the security team’s fault~.” “So unfavorable.”
