Gov’t accountability goes beyond public accounts’ auditing – Goolsarran
Auditing of public accounts is essential in the promotion of transparency but it doesn’t stop with the presentation of the Auditor General’s report and scrutiny by parliament as that alone cannot absolve a government of accountability responsibilities when recommendations are shunned, former auditor general Anand Goolsarran has said.
