The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to roll out U15 Girls Colts Leagues in each of the ten football regions as part of efforts to boost grassroots participation in women’s football. The initiative, developed with support from FIFA's Women’s Football Development programme, forms a key part of the GFA's Women’s Football Strategy. It is aimed at identifying and nurturing young female talent across the country. The new U15 leagues will provide structured competition and regular playing time for girls under 15, allowing them to grow in a professional and supportive environment. The project was driven by the Women’s Football Development Desk within the GFA Technical Directorate, under the leadership of Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.FIFA’s involvement follows a successful application by the GFA and represents a significant step in the Association’s long-term plan to make women’s football a central part of Ghana’s football development agenda. The leagues are expected to create new opportunities for young girls, build a solid foundation for the future of the women’s game, and empower a new generation of Ghanaian female footballers.
