The City of Belleville is ready to improve access to a well-used trail and continue expanding the city north of Highway 401 through the submission of a funding application. Council approved the sending of the $3.78 million application to the federal Active Transportation Fund for the North Riverfront Trail Extension project at its meeting on Monday. As part of a unanimous council vote, $6.3 million in pre-2026 capital budget approval will be earmarked for construction of the trail.
