ALPR technology helps in recovery of stolen vehicle

Northumberland OPP is crediting advanced technology for helping officers recover a stolen vehicle on the 401 last week. Last Thursday, shortly after 9:00 a.m., an officer was on patrol on the highway in Cramahe Township when the in-cruiser Automated Licence Plate Recognition system alerted them to a stolen pick-up truck travelling eastbound. Police say the vehicle was believed to be stolen the previous day from an address near Orangeville. The officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the vehicle as stolen. 20-year old Ibrahim Mazambu from Laval, Quebec, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking....
