RETIREMENT – COLONEL NICK TORRINGTON-SMITH, CD – 00340, CELE

  1. COLONEL N.P. TORRINGTON-SMITH, CD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 25 JUL 2025. 2. COLONEL TORRINGTON-SMITH COMMENCED HIS DISTINGUISHED MILITARY CAREER IN 1990, JOINING AS A COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING OFFICER. THROUGHOUT HIS TENURE, HE HAS HELD NUMEROUS PIVOTAL OPERATIONAL POSITIONS, INCLUDING ASSIGNMENTS AT 14 WING GREENWOOD, THE NATO SATELLITE GROUND TERMINAL IN FOLLY LAKE, NOVA SCOTIA, THE CANADIAN FORCES NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTRE, 76 COMMUNICATIONS GROUP, CANADIAN FORCES INFORMATION OPERATIONS GROUP HEADQUARTERS, AND THE CANADIAN FORCES ELECTRONIC WARFARE CENTRE. HE ALSO PROVIDED HIS EXPERTISE TO THE UNITED NATIONS PEACE KEEPING MISSION IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO. 3. IN ADDITION TO HIS OPERATIONAL ROLES, COLONEL TORRINGTON-SMITH HAS HELD VARIOUS STAFF POSITIONS WITHIN THE DIRECTOR GENERAL AEROSPACE EQUIPMENT PROGRAM MANAGEMENT, DIRECTORATE OF SPACE DEVELOPMENT, DIRECTORATE OF AIR DOMAIN DEVELOPMENT, CANADIAN JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND, CHIEF MILITARY PERSONNEL AND MOST RECENTLY WITHIN THE CHIEF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND CULTURE. HIS ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS ARE EQUALLY IMPRESSIVE, HOLDING A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS FROM ROYAL ROADS MILITARY COLLEGE (1993), A MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA (2000), AND BEING A GRADUATE OF THE CANADIAN FORCES COLLEGE JOINT COMMAND AND STAFF PROGRAM […]
