Speed limits increasing Friday on local sections of Highway 401

Drivers going through the area on Highway 401 should be aware of increasing speed limits starting Friday. The province had previously announced that 401 speed limits in both directions will increase to 110 km/h from the current 100 km/h. Local sections chosen by the provincial government include approximately 66 kilometres of highway from Belleville to Kingston, 44 kilometres from Colborne to Belleville and from Highway 35/115 in Clarington to Cobourg, which is about 35 kilometres.
