Taiwan promotes content creation at 2025 Licensing Japan

A delegation comprising 10 original Taiwan characters’ intellectual property owners attended Japan’s largest character and brand licensing tradeshow, 2025 Licensing Japan, held July 2-4 in Tokyo.   The delegation’s organizer Taiwan Creative Content Agency said the country’s pavilion was themed “Taiwan Content Island” and featured 10 popular characters seen in anime, apps, comics, figurines, mobile games, publications and stickers.   The products included Bounce by APEX Creators Agency, Hi~Mantou by Pyi Pyi Family Gifts, Tea Girls by ComicXstudio, The Moon Forgets by Jimmy S.P.A. and UglyRabbit by Himoon Design, among others.   The TAICCA said that on the opening day of the tradeshow, a total of 150 matchmaking sessions were held between local content creators and over 30 major Japanese firms such as Kadokawa Corp. and Sony Creative Products.   TAICCA Vice President Alice Chang said Japan is a global IP licensing market and that many Japanese firms have shown great interest in Taiwan’s content creation sector prior to 2025 Licensing Japan. She anticipated that the show would bring more global exposure for original product concepts from Taiwan and create further global business opportunities in the field.   Yasushi Higashiyama, a consultant to Japan’s Character Brand Licensing Association who helped organize the matchmaking sessions, commended the development of Taiwan’s creative content sector in recent years, and looked forward to further exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Japan.
