GFA holds safeguarding training during Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship
Coaches, team managers and players from the ten Regional Football Associations, along with representatives from elite academies, have received safeguarding training during the just-ended Elite U15 Boys Colts Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.The session focused on equipping participants with knowledge and practical tools to ensure the safety and well-being of young footballers. Players were educated on the importance of promptly reporting injuries, health concerns and welfare issues to the tournament’s medical team, reinforcing the priority placed on their protection.Coaches were engaged on their role in supporting the psychological and mental health needs of young players. They were reminded that their behaviour, both on and off the pitch, can significantly influence the confidence and long-term development of footballers.The training also addressed bullying and harassment, emphasising how such conduct erodes respect and trust in the game. Coaches and managers were guided on strategies to promote inclusivity and foster positive relationships.The initiative forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s broader mission to create a safe, player-centred environment, with child protection reporting structures and the importance of swift action among the key areas highlighted.
