Participants of the Licence D Coaching Course in Kumasi have received comprehensive safeguarding training, reinforcing the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to embedding child protection values across football development. The session, led by the GFA’s Safeguarding Officer, Obed Tuffour, emphasised the coach’s duty of care and the need to serve as role models for young players.Coaches were trained to identify and address risks such as abuse, exploitation, and trafficking—issues that continue to pose challenges within the game. The interactive programme also tackled the pressures of match-fixing and highlighted the importance of integrity both on and off the pitch.Engagement from the participants was strong, with many sharing personal experiences and reflecting on the difficulties faced in their communities when working with young players. They acknowledged the importance of protecting children from harm as a key step toward creating safe environments that nurture talent and support long-term player development.
