Diet key to getting enough vitamins; supplements useful for filling gaps

We all know how important it is to eat a well-balanced plate, full of fruits, veggies and whole grains. But do most Americans eat a healthy diet with enough consistency to prevent deficiencies? According to three local dietitians, some of the most common deficiencies are in Vitamin D, calcium and iron. Kim Segiel, a registered dietician nutritionist with Geisinger said, “Consuming adequate amounts of Vitamin D can be challenging since it is not naturally abundant in a wide range of foods.
