Black Tabby Games, the creators of the beloved Slay the Princess, have detailed a major update for their currently-in-Early-Access game Scarlet Hollow. The upgrade for the gothic horror narrative game brings significant content additions and enhancements and will be available early next month, coinciding with Steam’s Visual Novel Fest. Ahead of Episode 5’s release, players—both returning and new—will find noticeable changes in Scarlet Hollow. Black Tabby Games has expanded the script by more than 70,000 words across four chapters, improved the UI, and refined the overall user experience. The update also features Abby Howard’s distinctive, award-winning artwork. The game follows a week in the titular town of Scarlet Hollow, North Carolina, beginning with the passing of Pearlanne Scarlet, owner of the town’s coal mine. Players return to pay their respects, only to encounter their estranged cousin, Tabitha, and an unsettling presence lurking in the shadows. As the story unfolds, supernatural elements emerge, shaping an experience where every decision influences the narrative’s direction. Players can shape their journey by selecting unique character traits, such as the ability to communicate with animals or possessing a charismatic presence. Romance is also an option, with potential partners ranging from the town’s cryptid hunter to a mysterious specter. The game features a branching narrative, spanning seven planned chapters, allowing for a highly personalized experience. The Scarlet Hollow – The Roads Untraveled Update launches on Monday, March 3, as part of Steam’s Visual Novel Fest. A reworked Episode 1 will be available as a free demo, with the option to carry progress into the full game.
