Ratatan becomes the successor to Patapon

Unless you owned a PSP back in the day, it’s unlikely you remember Patapon. Aside from a remaster that also got released for PS4, this series of fun action-rhythm games only came out for the portable PlayStation device. So maybe it will surprise you that the creators are back with something in a similar vein. Their upcoming game Ratatan basically uses the same mechanics, being an action-rhythm roguelite where the player has to press buttons to the beat to command an army. You play as colorful little creatures called ratatan as they go to war with enemy factions, bashing out musical combos to get better attacks and upgrading your units as you go. What we remember from Patapon is mostly the catchy music and fun graphics, so if Ratatan follows its predecessor’s example in that regard, we’re sure it’ll be a blast. Ratatan is targetting a broader audience, with the release planned for PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X somewhere next year. The game will also feature an online co-op for those who like to play with friends.
