Political tensions are rising in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections as prominent PDP chieftain, Olorogun Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe (JP), has strongly criticized Senators Ovie Omo-Agege and Ned Nwoko for their recent remarks about the state's governance. Okwagbe described their comments as baseless rhetoric aimed at misleading the public. Responding to their claims that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has misgoverned Delta State for 25 years, Okwagbe dismissed both senators as political figures with little to show for their time in office. He argued that Senator Omo-Agege’s loss in the 2023 gubernatorial election was proof that Deltans rejected him, adding that instead of acknowledging his shortcomings, the former APC candidate has resorted to propaganda against the PDP-led administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Okwagbe emphasized that Deltans are politically aware and will not be swayed by unrealistic promises and media-driven narratives. He accused Omo-Agege of seeking attention through political grandstanding rather than presenting a viable alternative to the PDP’s developmental strides. Turning to Senator Ned Nwoko, Okwagbe dismissed his list of four projects as insignificant and questioned his impact in Delta North since assuming office. He argued that Nwoko, who won his Senate seat under the PDP, is now attempting to discredit the same party that provided him with a platform. "If the PDP was truly a failure, why did he run under its banner and celebrate his victory?" Okwagbe asked, labeling Nwoko’s stance as hypocritical. Reaffirming his support for Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, Okwagbe highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic policies. He urged Deltans to disregard opposition propaganda and remain steadfast in their support for the PDP. “They will come with their usual noise, false promises, and propaganda, but we must stay focused. The PDP has always been, and will continue to be, the best choice for Delta State,” he concluded.
