The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce new undergraduate programs under its College of Petroleum Administration and Management, beginning in the 2024/2025 academic session.The approved programs include B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management, B.Sc. Procurement Management, B.Sc. Petroleum Information Management, and B.Sc. Entrepreneurship. This approval follows a rigorous evaluation by NUC officials, who confirmed that FUPRE possesses the necessary resources to effectively deliver these courses, ensuring students acquire essential skills for key sectors of Nigeria’s economy.In a letter dated February 25, 2025, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, the NUC’s Executive Secretary stated: “After careful consideration, the Executive Secretary has approved the establishment of the full-time mode for the following programs to be offered at the university’s main campus, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session: B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management, B.Sc. Procurement Management, B.Sc. Petroleum Information Management, and B.Sc. Entrepreneurship.”Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh FNES, expressed appreciation to the NUC for its confidence in the university. He described the approval as a major milestone in FUPRE’s mission to provide globally competitive education."These new programs have been carefully designed to meet the rising demand for professionals in logistics, supply chain management, procurement, petroleum information management, and entrepreneurship. We are eager to see our students excel and drive innovation in these key industries," he said.With these additions, FUPRE continues to expand its academic offerings and enhance its role in preparing students for careers in industries critical to Nigeria’s economic growth.
