Nigerian Army To Improve Its Campaign Planning Capability

The Nigerian Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations (DAOPS) has commenced its First Quarter Maiden Sensitization Seminar 2025 with the theme “Improving Campaign Planning Capability in the NA: Options and Strategies.” The event, which is being held at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Hall, Army War College Nigeria, Asokoro, Abuja, is scheduled to run from 19 to 21 February 2025. Declaring the seminar open, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, who was ably represented by the Director General Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria Major Genral UA Yusuf emphasized the importance of structured and intelligence-driven campaign planning in tackling modern security threats. The COAS reiterated his commitment to consolidating the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready force, capable of effectively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.The COAS commended the organizers for facilitating such a crucial platform for knowledge-sharing and strategic dialogue. He also expressed appreciation to the Army War College Nigeria for hosting the event, reinforcing its pivotal role in shaping operational and strategic-level thinking within the Nigerian Army.In his welcome address, the Chief of Operations (Army), Major General BR Sinjen, ably represented by the Deputy Chief of Operations Campaign Planning Major General OA Awolo highlighted the significance of campaign planning in military operations, stating that Nigeria’s security challenges, ranging from insurgency and banditry to oil theft, kidnapping, and communal clashes, require well-structured and adaptive operational strategies."A well-executed campaign plan minimizes casualties, optimizes resource utilization, and ensures precision in military interventions.
