Kachalla Dan Lukuti, a notorious bandit kingpin responsible for numerous deadly attacks in Zamfara and Katsina states, has reportedly died under bizarre circumstances.Sources say he developed a strange illness that left him barking like a dog before his demise.According to reports, Lukuti fell seriously ill about a week ago, exhibiting unusual symptoms such as extreme aggression, violent convulsions, and uncontrollable barking sounds. His condition worsened rapidly, leaving his gang members terrified. Fearing the unknown, they kept their distance and were unable to help him. Eventually, he succumbed to the illness.Lukuti was known to operate from the Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leading a heavily armed gang of over 50 men. He was linked to several violent attacks in communities such as Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, and Magami, as well as along the Gusau-Magami highway, extending his criminal operations into Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. His final days were reportedly filled with agony, as he continuously howled and barked until he died. Overcome with fear and superstition, his gang allegedly forced villagers in Kizara to bury him, with the burial taking place at a local primary school. The cause of his mysterious illness remains uncertain. While some speculate he may have suffered from rabies, others believe it was a form of divine punishment for his brutal crimes. His death comes at a time when security forces have intensified military operations against bandit hideouts across the Northwest.
