In a major breakthrough against insurgency in the North-East, troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intercepted a massive cache of logistics supplies allegedly meant for terrorists operating in the region. The interception, which took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, was carried out by troops under Operation DESERT SANITY IV during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Nguru–Gashua road in Yobe State.According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops stopped a red 14-tyre trailer at about 7:40 am after receiving credible intelligence about suspicious movement of goods in the area.“The vehicle was moved to a secured location where a thorough inspection was conducted. At about 9:00 pm the same day, troops discovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer, 27 cartons of assorted drugs, and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all concealed beneath bundles of fabric materials,” the statement read. The military disclosed that the fertilizer was believed to be intended for the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), while the drugs and saline solution were meant to treat wounded insurgents.Further investigations revealed that the consignment was bound for Niger Republic, pointing to the existence of a cross-border terrorist supply network.Earlier on the same day, at about 10:30 am, troops intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer carrying large quantities of fabrics and solar panels. Intelligence reports indicate that the fabrics were to be used in producing uniforms for terrorist fightersAll the drivers, their assistants, and the seized items are currently in military custody, pending further investigations and a manhunt for the identified consignees and consignors. The Theatre Command praised the troops for their vigilance and swift action, emphasizing that cutting off terrorists’ logistics and supply chains remains a key strategy in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations. The military also urged residents of the North-East to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help prevent the movement of materials that could aid insurgent activities. This interception marks one of the largest single seizures of terrorist logistics in recent months and highlights the Nigerian military’s intensified efforts to cripple the operational capacity of insurgent groups in the Lake Chad Basin.www.twitter.com/spyetv
