Ultimate club unites for Akungba's development

The Ultimate Club, the premier association comprising prominent elites and influential figures in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the university community. On the last Friday of July 2024, the club’s President, Elder Jacob Ogidigbo, emphasized the importance of communal development during a lecture held at Adekunle Ajasin University’s Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall. He assured attendees that the club is dedicated to leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to transform the fortunes of Akungba-Akoko.Elder Ogidigbo highlighted the critical role of unity, asserting that it is the single most powerful factor capable of driving rapid development in any community.Ogidigbo said, “Our community, Akungba-Akoko, is truly blessed with many prominent sons and daughters whose achievements and contributions have brought honor and recognition to our land. These individuals, through their hard work and dedication, have not only excelled in their various fields but have also shown a deep commitment to the growth and development of our beloved community. Their success is a reflection of the values and strong foundation that we hold dear in Akungba-Akoko.“As we look around, it is evident that Akungba-Akoko is on a journey of progress. However, we recognize that there is still much work to be done. The potential for development in our community is vast, and with the collective efforts of all our distinguished sons and daughters, we can achieve even greater heights. It is our duty to ensure that every step we take is towards the betterment of our community, and that no one is left behind in this journey of growth.“We are committed to creating an environment that fosters development, innovation, and unity. By leveraging the talents, resources, and goodwill of our people, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Akungba-Akoko. Our commitment is not just to the present, but also to future generations, ensuring that they inherit a community that is thriving and full of opportunities.“In closing, let us all take pride in our heritage and our collective achievements. But more importantly, let us remain steadfast in our resolve to uplift Akungba-Akoko to greater heights. Together, with determination and unity, we will continue to make our community a beacon of progress and development for all to see. Also speaking, a member of club and one of the Board of Trustees for Tolu Oriyomi and Foluso Adeola Foundation (TOFA) said the club would continue to do its best for indigenes in higher institution. “Our club is deeply committed to supporting indigenes who are striving for higher education. Recognizing the importance of education in shaping the future of our community, we have made it a priority to provide bursaries to students across different quarters. These bursaries are a testament to our belief in the potential of our young people and our dedication to helping them achieve their academic goals.“As we move forward, we will continue to do everything within our power to assist and uplift our students. Our commitment to education and the betterment of our community is unwavering, and we will persist in finding ways to support our indigenes in higher institutions. By doing so, we aim to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our community for generations to come," Oriyomi said. Meanwhile, Prof. Francis Gbore, who delivered the Ultimate club's lecture titled: Education as the Bedrock of Human Development: Lessons Learnt from Emergent Local Communities, stressed the importance of education in remodeling the society. “Education, is the transmission of knowledge, skills, and character traits in various forms. There are three major classifications of education, they are the formal education, the non-formal education  and the informal education. “Formal education occurs within a structured institutional framework, such as schools, in line with the recommendations of a given approved curriculum. Non-formal education also follows a structured approach but occurs outside the formal schooling system and might not necessarily follow a given curriculum while informal education entails unstructured learning through a human’s daily experiences. “Formal and non-formal education are categorized into levels, including early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, and tertiary education. Other classifications of education focus focus on teaching methods, such as teacher-centered and student-centered education, and on subjects, such as science education, language education, and physical education.Highlights of the event include bursary for indigent students and dinner night held at Premier Pierre, hall, Akungba-Akoko.
