Ondo State coord briefs PCMs, harps on patriotism, selfless service

The State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, Ondo State, Mr Sam Pepple, has asserted that the establishment of the Scheme dispelled the erroneous and agelong negative impression about various tribes in the country that degenerated into suspicion and undue hatred for one another.The State Coordinator made the assertion earlier today while briefing the 2024 Batch 'B' (Stream II) prospective Corps Members, and encouraged them to understand and treasure the essence of the Scheme which was to promote national unity and integration.While emphasising the importance of the youth organisation at the NYSC Permanent Orientation camp, Ikare-Akoko, the NYSC helmsman explained that after the unwarranted Civil War, the then government of General Yakubu Gowon (retd) introduced the Scheme to foster unity, togetherness and integration of every section of the country.He added that over time, the Scheme has effectively tackled the unsubstantiated and unverified suspicion and replaced it with mutual understanding, which has resulted in one nation, one destiny.Pepple further annotated that the Scheme has fulfilled all expectations as only viable apparatus that harmonises the multi-cultural and diversified ethnic groups in the country.The NYSC Ondo State boss, therefore, called on the Corps Members to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and selfless service by dedicating the period of national service for the development of the country.The Coordinator also dissuaded the members of the service corps from seeking frivolous relocation just because they don't want to stay at the state of their original deployment, thus encouraging them to have a positive mindset and serve the fatherland in Ondo with all sense of responsibility. Meanwhile, the amiable admiinistrator, while assuring the corps participants of quality service delivery, disclosed that their welfare and security will remain top priorities of his administration and hinted that the management has put everything in place to ensure that they have both memorable and enjoyable camping period.While intimating them of what they should expect during the three weeks orientation course, he announced that they would be exposed to programmes and activities that will adequately prepare them for national service in Ondo, the Sunshine State. However, the State Coordinator warned against all forms of indiscipline and negative vices on camp, which, according to him, are capable of undermining the established code of conduct as given by the management. The cerebral administrator who is passionate about Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme admonished them to embrace the intervention to solidify their future, saying that those who go extra miles to develop their capacity will be celebrated in not too distance future.The Coordinator, while wishing them the best during the course, appealed to them to see the NYSC programme as a national assignment designed to introduce graduate youths into various leadership positions in the foreseeable future and enjoined them to make meaningful impact at their various places of primary assignment and host communities.
