Ondo Coord meets camp officials, harps on conducive atmosphere for corps members

As the 2024 Batch 'B' (Stream II) orientation course commences nationwide on Wednesday, 28th August, the State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Sam Pepple has charged the officials who would be participating in the exercise to make camp atmosphere conducive for Corps Members.The State Coordinator gave the charge on Tuesday evening at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, during the camp officials maiden meeting.He said that the Corps Members should be considered as their children and therefore urged them to be more compassionate when receiving them, as the first impression they would create will linger in the memory of the graduate youths for a very long time to come.The NYSC Ondo State boss further warned against subjecting the Corps Members to corporal punishment, adding that all disciplinary measures should be handled in a civil manner.He, however, frowned against any form of over socialisation and undue slacks that could cause a breakdown of law and order on camp, saying the management may be forced to apply sanction on erring camp officials.Pepple, who directed the Heads of assignments to ensure that the code of conduct for camp officials is strictly adhered to, said the management will not accept any excuse for non compliance.Meanwhile, the Camp Director, Mrs. Martha Ihenyen has enjoined everyone to give their best so that the prospective corps members will have fond memories of them while they themselves will feel fulfilled for contributing to the mentoring of the graduate youths. The Camp Director who admonished everyone to live up to their responsibilities wanted them to display positive attitude towards prospective corps members, many of whom are visiting the Sunshine State for the first time.NYSC Ondo State is expecting over 1700 freshly deployed prospective corps members who studied in the country's tertiary institutions as well as outside the shores of Nigeria, and are deployed from all the states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.
