The Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom has issued a strong response to an online publication that it claims was aimed at tarnishing the image of His Majesty, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku.The publication alleged that the monarch was involved in land-grabbing, armed with a killer squad, and had a criminal record for theft abroad, specifically for stealing $300 worth of computers, before his ascension to the throne. According to sources from the palace, however, these claims are false. At the time of the alleged incident, the Obi was studying for his Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Edinburgh and was not in the United States. In a swift statement, Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, Palace Secretary, condemned the publication, calling it "a malicious attempt by certain individuals to disrupt the peace and unity of Ogwashi-Uku." He identified Barrister Mayor Okolie and Elumunor Adigwe as key figures behind the defamatory campaign. According to the statement, these individuals are currently facing criminal charges for terrorism, inciting inter-communal violence, attempted murder, and destruction of property at the Federal High Court in Asaba following their October 2023 attack on His Majesty. The statement also implicated Ugo Emordi, another alleged sponsor, who faces charges for murder, arson, and rape in Delta State. The Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, a respected monarch with a Doctorate in Economics and History, has made strides in promoting peace and prosperity within the kingdom. Palace officials insist that these allegations are baseless and part of a coordinated attempt to wrest control of community assets and sow discord."We intend to pursue appropriate legal action to counter this misinformation," the palace statement affirmed, adding that His Majesty welcomes any investigation by relevant agencies.Reflecting on current events, the palace noted that even leaders facing accusations, such as the recent election of Donald Trump in the United States, can continue their work unimpeded by false allegations. His Majesty remains steadfast in his commitment to improving the lives of his people despite these distractions.
