In its ongoing commitment to improving the lives of communities in the Lake Chad region, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has delivered a solar powered borehole with a 10,000 litres tank capacity to the community of Cross Kauwa, Nigeria. This vital project according to Lt. Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer, aims to provide reliable access to clean water for the community situated approximately 130 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, Nigeria.The Force Commander (FC) MNJTF Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, officially inaugurated the newly constructed solar powered borehole in Cross Kauwa Community.The event was attended by key Military Commanders from Sector 3 Mongunu, senior military officers from Headquarters MNJTF and representatives of Defence Council International (DCI).Major General Ali emphasized the significance of the laudable facility, highlighting its role in providing clean and safe water to the residents of Cross Kauwa and surrounding areas . He attributed the success of the project to the generous support of the European Union and their partners under the DCI framework, commending their commitment to enhancing the well being of local communities .The FC stated that the borehole facility represents a collective commitment to improving the well being of communities within the Lake Chad region by ensuring their fundamental right to access clean water. He therefore tasked the people of Cross Kauwa Community to take good care of the facility so that it would last longer as more similar initiatives such as provision of health care facility and renovation of schools are underway, contingent on the community's effective management of the facilityEarlier the Acting Commander Sector 3 Brigadier General MF Babayo emphasized that the project will significantly improve daily living standards, reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and provide Cross Kauwa Community with a reliable source of clean water . He stated that the project underscores the MNJTF's dedication to meaningful community growth in line with the United Nations Sustainable Goal Number 6.The newly installed water solar powered borehole facility has a capacity of 10,000 litres and it is equipped with solar panels for water treatment, micro filters, and an automatic chrome dispenser. It also has a high-voltage pump to ensure efficient water supply as well as a solar powered streetlight to illuminate the general area during darkness In his remarks the representative of DCI , General Ciaizzo Stephane (rtd) said the essential facility is the result of a partnership between the MNJTF and DCI funded by the EU to provide continuous access to clean water, enhance public health and overall quality of life of people affected by Boko Haram terrorism in the Lake Chad regionThe Bulama of Cross Kuawa Shehu Subairu expressed immense gratitude to the MNJTF for their numerous contributions to the community's well-being.
