The management of Federal Polytechnic Oko has commenced the construction of a new students’ hostel following the official foundation laying ceremony performed by the institution’s Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie.The project, located at the institution’s Students’ Village, is being funded through the 2025 intervention programme of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), with a focus on improving students’ accommodation and enhancing the overall learning environment within the Polytechnic.Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Awuzie reiterated the institution’s commitment to infrastructural expansion and the provision of a conducive atmosphere for academic activities. She assured the contractor and project consultants of the management’s readiness to ensure prompt release of funds to facilitate timely completion of the hostel project. According to the Rector, the development aligns with the Polytechnic’s broader agenda of strengthening students’ welfare and expanding critical infrastructure across the campus.The contractor handling the project pledged to deliver the hostel within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high construction standards and quality.In his remarks, the project consultant commended the Rector for what he described as her proactive leadership and sustained commitment to infrastructural development in the institution.The Director of TETFund in the Polytechnic, Dr Helen Nnabuenyi who delivered the vote of thanks, expressed appreciation to the institution’s management, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders for their support towards the successful commencement of the project.Principal officers and members of staff of the institution attended the ceremony. When completed, the hostel facility is expected to provide modern and comfortable accommodation for students, a development stakeholders believe will contribute significantly to academic growth and improved campus life at the Polytechnic.
