The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Chief Reuben Fasoranti, a former Pro-Chancellor of the university, on the momentous occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary. In a press release issued on Monday in Akungba Akoko, Prof. Ige described Chief Fasoranti, who is also the revered leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, as an uncommon leader whose life epitomizes integrity, selflessness, and an unwavering dedication to the progress of the Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.Prof. Ige recalled Chief Fasoranti's distinguished tenure as the second Pro-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, serving from November 2001 to September 2003. He noted that even decades later, the elder statesman's footprints of excellence and prudent leadership remain indelible in the annals of the university."Baba Fasoranti is a leader of leaders. He is a community pillar, a political sage, and a bridge builder. His tenure as Pro-Chancellor of this great institution laid a solid foundation for academic excellence. He is a man of truth who has always prioritized the welfare of others above personal gain," Prof. Ige stated. The Vice Chancellor highlighted Chief Fasoranti's roles as a devoted disciple of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, noting that the centenarian has consistently embodied the noble Yoruba ethos of Omoluabi—marked by honour, humility, and courage."At 100, Chief Fasoranti remains a rallying point for justice, true federalism, and democratic governance. His voice during the dark days of military rule was loud and fearless, and his contributions to the development of education in our beloved Ondo State and Nigeria are immeasurable," Prof. Ige added.Prof. Ige prayed for continued strength, sound health, and divine wisdom for the nonagenarian, expressing hope that the nation would continue to benefit from his fatherly counsel for many more years."On behalf of the management, staff, and students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, I wish Papa a happy 100th anniversary. We celebrate his life of sacrifice and his relentless pursuit of a better society," the Vice Chancellor concluded.Signed:Victor A.
