Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday paid an unscheduled visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Station in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen internal security and emergency response capacity. The minister said the visit was aimed at conducting an on-the-spot assessment of facilities and gauging the preparedness of personnel to tackle emergencies that may arise without warning. He recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nationwide address on Monday, stressing that the President’s directive on collective responsibility for national security must be taken seriously across all paramilitary formations.According to him, “Security is life, and Mr President is trusting our officers to deliver on the issue of internal security and the protection of critical national assets.”Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that the officers under the ministry would live up to expectations, noting that the administration was committed to delivering a safer, more secure country for all citizens. He added that he would sustain routine surprise inspections of paramilitary commands nationwide to obtain firsthand knowledge of operations and service delivery.“More importantly, I will continue to conduct unscheduled on-the-spot assessment of paramilitary commands across the country, as I want to see things the way they are,” he said, emphasising that only the highest standards of service are acceptable to Nigerians.“For me, I want to see the sort of service that Nigerians are getting across all our agencies because like what I always say, a good service is not good enough for Nigerians, but the best, always,” he added.
